Short Term and Summer courses

If you wish to study for less than one academic semester then we can arrange for a short course at Dalian University of Technology. You can enjoy a university environment and campus sporting facilities and travel easily to the centre location to discover what life is like in a Chinese city.

If you wish to make a rapid advance in your Chinese in a relatively short space of time, or have specific technical language needs, we can arrange afternoon tutorials in either small groups or 1 to 1 with a Chinese teacher or an appropriate Chinese postgraduate student.

For both Short Term and Summer courses the minimum time for a course is 4 weeks.  It may take one week to settle but after 3-4 weeks if you study hard and make use of opportunities to use your Chinese then you should notice a significant improvement. The maximum time for a course of this type is 18 weeks.

Each semester and during Summer Courses we run several social/cultural activities and 2 or 3 excursions to places of interest in North East China. If you are studying on a short term program you will be most welcome to join these and meet some of our long term students. The hosts for these are provided free of charge but the actual cost of the activity you need to pay for.

The cost of a standard short term/Summer course is US $500 per week in campus hostel, $425-$450 per week in apartment accommodation. (please see Summer School beginners course reduced inclusive rate of $400 per week)  This covers tuition, accommodation, most teaching materials, placement test, airport pick-up, assistance in obtaining a suitable visa and support throughout your stay. The Summer Program this year will run from Monday July 10th 2010 through to August 6th 2010. Students may join at any point but beginners are recommended to start on July 10th 2010. (please see Summer School beginners course reduced inclusive rate of $400 per week) More details on Summer Courses emailed on request. Specialist courses can be provided to meet professional, corporate or individual need by arrangement.
