Dalian Maritime UniversityThe University was founded in 1909 as the Dalian branch of Shanghai Shipping Management College. Today Dalian Maritime University is a high ranking comprehensive university where Engineering, Law, Economics and International Trade have large faculties. It is also part of the Chinese governments "National project 211" where extra funding has been made available to modernise 100 Chinese Universities to compete internationally on research and teaching quality. In the last few years many of the universities older buildings have been demolished and replaced with more modern facilities.

BuildingThe Chinese Language department at the university is relatively small with 60-80 students, usually around 45% of these come from Europe or North America. To offer something special to Chinese-in-China language students the university limits classes to a maximum of 12 students. You can receive more individual attention from your course tutor and more emphasis is placed on interaction and student involvement. The Chinese language building includes classrooms, a language lab and a student lounge for students to relax and socialize in before and after class.

The campus facilities today feature 2 sports centres, 2 swimming pools, a new library, many shops and restaurants and even its' own port. In partnership with the World Maritime University it teaches an English Language MSc in Maritime Safety and Environmental Management. Closer: Dalian Maritime University BuildingThe university is in the south west part of the city 11km from the city centre. It takes 15 minutes and 24Y by taxi to get to the city centre. Alternatively there is a stop for the light railway line opposite to the university entrance. This takes about 20 minutes and takes you to the western part of the city centre.
