Dalian Maritime University
The University was founded in 1909 as the Dalian branch of Shanghai Shipping Management College. Today Dalian Maritime University is a comprehensive university where Engineering, Law, Economics and International Trade have large faculties. It is also part of the Chinese governments 'National project 211' where extra funding has been made available to modernise 100 Chinese Universities to compete internationally on research and teaching quality. A top 20 university in China and Dalian's number 1 university, Dalian University of Technology (DUT) is also a big university with 30, 000 students enrolled. Founded as an Engineering college but now also a key comprehensive university in the north of China.
